Sauna Naked

Why, Where and How to Sauna Naked

WHY should I sauna naked?

It is actually unhygenic and unhealthy to wear any clothing in saunas and steam rooms. To get the full benefits of such facilities, no clothing should be worn. It is much more beneficial, healthy and relaxing to sauna naked. It allows the whole body and skin to breathe, which is not possible if you’re wearing sticky swimwear. It is more practical to be nude, just like it is more practical to be naked to take a bath or shower.

HOW can I sauna naked?

You can sauna ‘naked’ by loosely wrapping a towel around your body. Alternatively you can sit on a towel with your body exposed at a lot of saunas.

WHERE can I sauna naked?

Admittedly, you cannot go naked at every sauna in the world. Many mixed saunas state that swimwear is required, and an increasing number of single-gender sessions do too. In practice, most of these will allow you to enjoy their sauna in a wrapped towel.

But it’s not just hippy festival saunas or private saunas that allow exposed nudity.

We must stress – we’re not talking about swingers clubs or sex saunas. We mean genuine sauna facilities at genuine spas, hotels and pools.

One place we can recommend is Clover Spa in Birmingham.

To find out more about other saunas, there is a great free website, the European Spas forum which contains reviews and discussion about clothing optional/textile-free saunas in the UK and Europe.
